Notes from our Green Buyer

Reko is a coffee growing community in one of the most famous growing regions in the world: Kochere, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. The smallholders in this community grow their coffee around 2000 meters above sea level, which imparts complexity into this lovely coffee. Coffees are brought to the Aricha washing station and processed naturally, which allows for aerobic fermentation to develop flavor using the sugars of the coffee fruit. There is so much going on in this coffee, it will be a fun one to experiment with and taste through different brewing methods!

Notes from our Roaster

These “naturals,” like Reko, are intensely sweet, with loud fruit flavors dominating their cup profile. But get ready–these coffees begin loud but finish delicately, often with a floral, tea-like body. You’ll find raspberry to be an apt description for Reko’s upfront sweetness and heightened acidity, while hibiscus is its lasting, floral counterpart.
