Notes from our Green Buyer

We sourced this coffee in partnership with our friends at Crop-to-Cup. In 2021 Mullugeta Muntasha returned to his hometown of Bursa and began processing coffee at his own drying station, called Dawencho, where he won 2nd place in the Cup of Excellence for the Dawencho farmer group coffee and 6th place under his own name, Mullugeta Muntasha. In 2022, four of the top 10 CoE winners were Mullugeta’s lots, including that of Legesse Botola—the top winner and Mullugeta’s brother-in law—who processed his coffee at Mullugeta’s washing station.

Notes from our Roaster

By no means is this your traditional, run-of-the-mill cup of coffee. Mullugeta Muntasha’s naturally-processed coffee is absolutely wild – in a good way! The pronounced sweetness and tropical vibrancy of this coffee goes to show you just how expansive coffee’s flavor library can be. Straight away, you’ll notice loud, intense fruit notes like grape and peach jam alongside an unmistakable sweetness (what we’re appropriately describing as bubble gum). Behind the roaster, you can count on us to roast this coffee slightly faster than our normal roast profiles. This keeps it loud and ensures the intensity of the flavors inherent in the coffee isn’t obscured or restrained by our roasting.
