Notes from our Green Buyer

Bekele Yutute owns (and operates with his nephew, Samuel) the Kokose Drying Station in the neighborhood with the same name. They have a small farm of their own and purchase coffee cherries from other local smallholder farms. The combination of a well-fermented and dried natural coffee along with altitudes reaching 2300 MASL produces a vibrant cup with lots of complexity and fruit notes!

Notes from our Roaster

Bekele Yutute’s classic natural-process possesses a particular quality. Often, naturally-processed coffees have a tendency to emphasize their fruit notes—like berries or jam—and you’re unable to taste much else. Intensity over complexity and balance is a good way to think about it. In Bekele Yutute’s coffee, you have three main aspects: a tropical-fruit acidity, a stone-fruit sweetness, and a delicate, floral body—all apparent, all at once. Neither aspect is at the expense of the others; they harmonize. Think of it as a harmony you can taste.
