Notes from our Green Buyer
We, at last, travelled to the famed farm of Basha Bekele in February of 2025. I’m confident in saying this was the highest-growing coffee I have visited in my 15 years of visiting coffee farms. At this altitude, 2300-2500 MASL (meters above sea level), the coffee cherries develop very slowly, giving even greater acidity and complexity to the cup. It is, as objectively as you can get, the best of the best of the best in the world of coffee, so it makes complete sense that Basha won the Cup of Excellence competition in 2024. This coffee is special and fantastic! Enjoy!
Notes from our Roaster
Here we have the debut of Basha Bekele! This long-awaited release is going to be one of your favorites from the Ethiopian line-up. This coffee has the loud berry note that’s the striking hallmark of naturals, with an acidity that’s intensely citric and well-developed. The acidity of this coffee is central, but it doesn’t detract or compete with the other flavors, instead it enhances the overall sweetness, giving it vibrancy, dimension, and complexity.
