Notes from our Green Buyer

Suke Quto is located in Odo Shakisso in the Guji region of Ethiopia, and the farm is certified Organic and Rainforest Alliance. Which means they are paying attention to their soil, their tree canopy, and their overall ecosystem. They also collect coffee cherries from their neighbors to put together this amazing coffee.

Notes from our Roaster

What’s with “jam” and “zest”? Why not just grape and orange? Well, we want these descriptors to help you answer two things: just how prominent or how subtle will these flavors be? Our goal with flavor notes is to give you an accurate expectation for what your coffee will taste like. Suke Quto, for example, while a washed process coffee, has a jammy-ness—sweeter than just a fresh grape. Additionally, you’ll notice a citrus note; “zest” communicates a bright acidity that accompanies the sweetness of the jam and vanilla bean notes. To call this orange would be misleading—it’s sweet, but not overly sweet. Descriptors like these help us communicate to you the nuance and complexity offered in your coffees.
