Most of the progress Bolivia has made in its specialty coffee production can be attributed to Pedro Rodriguez, who has spent the last 30 years revitalizing coffee production in Caranavi, Bolivia. Due to poor and unsustainable farming practices, Bolivia’s coffee production would yield as little as 10% of their annual harvests. Using La Llama as a model farm, Pedro started Sol de Mañana, a mentoring program devised to educate neighboring farms on more productive farming practices. Sol de Mañana empowers participating producers to affect their own livlihood and to take part in the future of Bolivia’s specialty coffee production.
