Having been mismanaged by an earlier Union, Duromina (meaning 'become wealthy') joined other surrounding cooperatives in forming a new Union, the Kata Maduga Union. The Kata Maduga Union, comprised of several cooperatives, has had considerable success in processing but has had little experience in running its own export. It, however, proved worthwhile; Kata Maduga has handled their entire processing operations with integrity and proven themselves to be a competent and successful exporter. The financial success of the Union has provided Duromina with the ability to obtain an organic certification and make significant contributions to their local community.
