Located in the Aberdare Mountain Range just north of Nairobi, the Gachatha Farmers Cooperative consists of 1,150 small lot producers and has been processing coffee cherries since 1963. The washing station and mill is currently managed by Jane Nyawira. Nyawira’s goal is to run a sustainable cooperative operation: the washing station recirculates water and treats its own runoff so as not to contaminate the surrounding waterways.
