Historically, the Guji zone was part of the greater Sidamo region of Ethiopia. It has since been distinguished as its own region due to the exemplary flavor profile of its coffees. Degefa Sema owns and operates several washing and drying stations throughout the Sidamo region of Ethiopia. About 800 small-lot farmers deliver their cherries to one of five collection points. From there, they are transported to Degefa’s Banco Michicha to dry. The drying mill itself is located in the Kercha district and works extensively to train local farmers in sustainable agriculture. Look for notes of orange zest, concord grape, and vanilla.
